The management of horticultural statistics in Indonesia is carried out in a tiered manner. At the national level, it is overseen by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in collaboration with the Directorate General of Horticulture and the Center for Agricultural Data and Information (PUSDATIN) under the Ministry of Agriculture. Provincial-level management is handled by the Provincial BPS and Agricultural Office, while district/municipal management is the responsibility of BPS District/Municipality offices and local Agricultural Offices. Data collection in the field involves local officials, including agricultural extension agents and district representatives.
As part of this initiative, the Statistics Bureau (BPS) of Metro Municipality is conducting the 2024 Horticultural Agriculture Survey (SPH) in collaboration with the Metro Municipality’s Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Office. The survey aims to gather data on agricultural production, inform policy, and enhance farmer welfare. This data will support the government in creating effective policies within the horticulture sector and help farmers in developing their agricultural output.
The SPH survey utilizes various questionnaires, including Seasonal Vegetables and Fruits (SPH-SBS), collected monthly; Annual Fruits and Vegetables (SPH-BST); Biofarmaka Plants (SPH-TBF); and Ornamental Plants (SPH-TH), collected quarterly. Data collection takes place from the 10th to the 20th of each month following the relevant period.
This survey is conducted by a joint team from BPS and the Agricultural Office, composed of trained field officers. They gather data through direct interviews with farmers and field observations to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
The results of this survey are expected to provide a clear picture of the potential and progress of the horticultural sector in Metro Municipality. This data will form the basis for planning more effective and efficient agricultural development programs.
Let’s support agricultural development in Metro Municipality for a stronger food security system!
